Wood Kitchenware Tips
- To avoid warping, cracking and or separation of joints never wash wood kitchenware in the dishwasher.
- Never submerge cookware made of wood in water.
- Be sure to store your wood kitchenware in a dry place and avoid exposure to moisture for extended periods of time.
Cutting & Serving Board Oil
Unlike most cutting board oils on the market today which are made from mineral oil (a petroleum by-product), Caron & Doucet cutting board oil is created exclusively with 100% natural ingredients. The primary ingredient in our formulation is highly refined coconut oil, which is a renewable resource. This base is then combined with our proprietary blend of essential oils that help to eliminate odours. This cutting board oil gets absorbed quickly and deeply into the wood leaving it well protected. When used regularly it will protect your wooden kitchenware, preventing it from moisture damage, cracking or separation of joints. This product is ideal for wood and bamboo kitchenware such as cutting boards, wooden butcher blocks, utensils, salad bowls, serving platters etc…
Clean your wooden cutting board, butcher block or other wooden cookware using hot water and a gentle natural soap. Scrub away any leftover food residues then rinse the wooden cookware. Allow it to dry thoroughly then apply a light coating of cutting board oil using your hands or clean cloth, working the oil into the wood. For best results we recommend using this product on a regular basis whenever you see your wood start to dull.
Cutting & Serving Board Wax
The wax we use from Caron & Doucet is formulated using rice bran wax. This abundantly available vegetable (vegan) wax demonstrates exceptional water repelling qualities. Rice bran wax is also amongst the hardest of natural waxes giving wood a remarkably durable protective finish. The pure essential oils of lemon, rosemary and lemongrass were chosen for this product to naturally help eliminate unwanted food odours from food preparation surfaces. This product creates a durable and easy to clean protective finish on wood and bamboo kitchenware. Seasoning wood kitchenware with the cutting board wax prevents the absorption of liquids that can cause stains or water damage. It is ideal for wood and bamboo cutting boards, butcher blocks, countertops, knife handles, etc…
Apply a thin layer of wax to the surface of your wood and bamboo kitchenware using a clean cloth. Polish to a matte sheen and re-season when wood starts to appear dull.
